Echo buttons have been around for a little while now, but it was only recently that Amazon added the ability to use them to control your smarthome devices. This new feature will let you assign routines to your Echo buttons, essentially letting you control multiple smarthome devices at once with just the press of a button. Here’s how to set it all up.

Before you begin, this guide assumes that your Echo buttons are already up and running. If they aren’t already paired to your Echo, we have a guide that takes you through the process.
To assign an Echo button to a smarthome task, you have to create an Alexa Routine. If you’re not familiar with Routines, we have a handy guide on how to set them up. You’ll be following those same instructions when integrating your Echo button, but with a minor difference.
From the home screen of the Alexa app, start by tapping the menu button up in the top left corner of the screen.
Select “Routines” from the list of options.
