On Dec. 12, Delaware-based Christiana Care Health System went live with Apple's Health Record platform, enabling its patients to use the mobile app and gain real-time access on their iOS devices to information contained in their electronic health records (EHRs).
"Then continuing to build on that, there's patient and provider messaging. Being the provider is actually relatively hard work. What do doctors do during the day? It's a serialized, high-volume engagement with patients. At the end of the day, they get to their notes and returning [patient] calls. What we're doing now with provider messaging is the ability to move that conversation to an asynchronous way. Typically, a doctor returns calls at the end of the day, so then you have patients missing that call."
